November is Family Violence Awareness Month, a time to come together as a community to promote healthy, respectful relationships and support those who may be struggling. At Kneehill Regional FCSS, we believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and respected; at home, at work, and in our community.
Family violence can take many forms, emotional, physical, financial, or psychological. It often begins subtly, through controlling behaviour, criticism, or isolation. Over time, these actions can erode confidence and safety. Recognizing the signs early and reaching out for help, can make all the difference.
🌿 What a Healthy Relationship Looks Like
• Respect – Listening to each other’s thoughts and feelings
• Trust – Knowing you can rely on each other without fear
• Equality – Sharing decisions and responsibilities
• Communication – Talking honestly and resolving conflicts safely
Even small, everyday actions, checking in, saying thank you, setting boundaries, or listening with empathy, help build trust and connection.
💬 If You See the Signs
If you or someone you know is in an unhealthy or abusive situation, remember: it’s not your fault, and help is available. You don’t have to face it alone. Reaching out can be the first step toward safety and healing.
💛 How You Can Help
• Share information about community supports
• Listen without judgment
• Encourage others to seek help when it’s safe to do so
• Wear purple this month to show your support for Family Violence Awareness
Together, we can help build a community where everyone feels safe and supported — one conversation, one act of kindness, and one connection at a time.
